Owners of curly hair joke that beautiful curls are the result of curling, and natural curls require so much attention that sometimes they easier to straighten... But really to style curly hair so difficult? Or is it all about improper care? Let's see what you could be doing wrong.
1. Wash your hair with sulphate shampoo (SLS) in the composition
Sulfates have excellent detergent properties - so much so that they wash away both harmful and useful from the hair. They lift the hair scales, making them porous and unruly. Curly hair is inherently dry, and sulfate shampoos make it worse by washing out all moisture. In addition, they can adversely affect the condition of the scalp, provoking flaking and itching. Sulfate-free shampoos tend to lather less well, but your hair will say thank you for sure.
2. Use products with silicones
Owners of curls love them for their ability to make curls heavier, make them elastic. In fact, silicones create a film on the scales and draw moisture from hair and skin, gradually leaving hair dry and unruly. It is possible to wash silicones only with shampoo with sulfates, this is a vicious circle.
3. Use a terry towel
Curls will change exactly when you get used to blotting your hair with a regular cotton cloth, which does not provoke excessive fluffy hair.
4. Styling on dry hair
The best styling product for curls is water. While the hair is wet, they need to be shaped so that the curls "remember" it, and only then dry.
5. Do not use oils
It is natural oils that are the best that nature has come up with for curls. Unlike straight hair, curly ones are very grateful to any oils, almost without risking looking dirty. They nourish hair well and retain moisture in it. Anyone will do, but coconut, argan, sesame and hibicus oils work best.
6. Use a hairdryer and iron
High temperatures simply evaporate moisture from the hair. And if right now, after styling, they look great, remember that each such procedure will dry them out, and you will understand this when you want to style them in a natural way.
7. Ignore nutritional masks
Protein proteins containing keratin, wheat, oat or soy proteins are especially beneficial.
8. Sleep with your hair loose
You should get rid of this habit by tying your hair in a ponytail before going to bed, and at the same time change cotton pillowcases for silk ones.
